Basics of Defensive Carbine (DC200)

DC200-Basics of Defensive Carbine, is a entry level class for shooters who have had at least an introductory or basic carbine class either from Razorback Tactical Solutions, or any other accredited instructor. Topics covered include Introductory Carbine topics and the following: malfunction drills and shooting on the move as well as transitions. Introduction to timed fire drills and evaluations based on class skill level. Class equipment is the same as the Intro to Defensive Carbine class with the addition of a service pistol (minimum 9mm para caliber). Ammo requirement is 500 rounds plus 100 rounds pistol.

Prerequisite: Intro to Defensive Carbine or equivalent

(This class is limited to adults 18+ who have participated in the DC101 class or equivalent.)

  • We will be running drills from various distances
  • Immediate action drills
  • Shooting from traditional firing positions
  • Moving then shooting
  • Moving while shooting
  • Barricade shooting
  • Transitions
  • Timed firing drills

Capacity for this range is limited to 13 students.

Our classes are held rain, snow or shine so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Setup begins at 8 am, class begins at 9 am sharp. So please arrive early to help with range set up. We are planning to wrap up right around 4pm.

We will meet at the 50 yard range. We have a very full day so please be on time. We will supply all targets and stands.

Please bring the following:

  • A good attitude
  • Serviceable Carbine; AR, AK, M1 though an AR type is STRONGLY recommended.  AR pistols are also acceptable (as long as they have a buffer tube and can be comfortable mounted in your shoulder.)
  • LEGAL Suppressors are welcome, just remember if you bring one not everyone will have one so please remember your ear pro.
  • Optics are desirable but not necessary.
  • 500 rounds of serviceable rifle ammunition. M855 is NOT approved for this class as we are shooting steel. NO tracers.
  • 100 rounds of serviceable pistol ammunition.
  • Empty Chamber Flags are NOT required for this course
  • Mat or blanket to lay on for sighters (we will be zeroing/confirming zeros first)
  • 3 to 5 dummy rounds appropriate to your rifle; we will have .223/5.56 available to lend
  • A serviceable sling. A tactical sling is best, but you must have a sling. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS! One or two point slings only, no 3 point slings.
  • Minimum three serviceable rifle magazines, 30 round preferable for Rifle, 20′s or 15's are OK just make sure you bring a comparable number. also, Please mark your mags so they are easily ID’d as yours.We Recommend you bring as many mags as possible to minimize reloading time. Also, a magazine loader such as “Lula” helps save your thumbs.
  • The ability to carry at least two rifle magazines on your body; mag holders, pouches, vest or coat or pants pockets are OK.
  • Eye & Ear protection
  • Clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather
  • Kneepads and elbow pads are optional (we will be on the ground)
  • Shooting gloves are optional, but highly recommended
  • Water, electrolyte replacement and food. We will break for lunch but you are on your own for food.

Tuition for Course is $125.00 plus $10.00 range fee Which can be mailed in with the payment or paid the day of class.

We have loaner carbines available. Please ask for loaners if you need them at the time of you register.
